Tonic logs on to music project with Faultline

Tonic has designed a website to promote Faultline, a project by music producer David Kosten.

The site, www.faultline.co.uk, launched this week as Kosten releases his latest album.

The consultancy was briefed to design a site aimed at discerning fans and to provide an on-line discovery zone to learn more about the music says Tonic creative director Ranzie Anthony.

The concept for the site was derived from early computer operating systems and aims to deliver a more abstract approach than standard artist websites, he says.

‘The music is ambient and quite abstract and we designed the website to reflect that,’ says Anthony. ‘We created an interface where users can access key areas of content, but also explore and find additional information.

‘We used subtle samples of the music, random imagery and text so fans can understand the thinking behind Faultline and Kosten’s thinking about music,’ he adds.

The site extends the design approach of the album sleeve and identity, which were created by Blue Source.

Tonic was appointed in May and won the work due to an existing relationship with Blue Source.
