Sign of the times driving us to information overload
Driving down the M4 motorway back into London last night I noticed a plethora of new sophisticated traffic signs that are being put up to help inform us of yet more roadworks.
On all of these quite massive LED-type screens, which are obviously not yet working, are pasted a series of humbler yellow signs that simply read ‘sign not yet in use’.
What is going on here? Is this a comment on the Postmodern infrastructure of Great Britain? Is it an attempt at next year’s Turner Prize or is it one of Banksy’s monkeys getting their own back?
Quick, somebody call Bruce Mau. I’m sure he can explain.
