Michael Johnson may assert that words ‘can’t be bettered’, yet his meander down memory lane fails to confront the real reason for a scarcity of copy-led communication – designers can’t spell.
Anyone who has led a design team will say that the ‘spellcheck’ button is the least used part of its repertoire. As for the correct use of grammar, forget it. And don’t even think about punctuation.
So, sadly, there is no one within the design world eloquent enough to argue the point.
