Unless designers assign Internet copyright to a client in writing, clients have no rights to make modifications to sites, employ others to modify them, or sue third parties copying sites, according to Michelle Armstrong, associate of Newcastle solicitor Ward Hadaway.

Meanwhile, ICL warns that traffic levels threaten sites that are not designed to “planning, scalability and integration” principles.
