Scotland races on with badge

The Scottish Commonwealth Games team will compete in 1998 under a new badge designed by Edinburgh consultancy Tayburn McIlroy Coates.

The dark blue and purple identity features an italicised thistle emblem, which evokes the energy of sport, says a consultancy spokeswoman.

It will be applied to team uniforms, tracksuits, equipment and merchandising for the games taking place in Malaysia. The Commonwealth Games Council for England is holding an unpaid creative pitch between Sue Steadman and Cimera for its identity.

The Commonwealth Games Council for Wales was due to discuss a consultancy for its team’s identity on Wednesday.
