4i writes a signature tune for Music.com

On-line music service Music.com has been rebranded by London consultancy 4i. The project has involved establishing on-line communication channels between the design group and the New York-based client.

Music.com was originally registered as a domain name by Multi-User Speciality Integrated Services, a semiconductor manufacturing group. It realised the potential for the name because it was receiving so much unsolicited mail from Internet users looking for music. A music division was set up and spun-off from the original company in 1999.

Music.com briefed 4i to develop a new brand which could encompass a variety of musical styles. After initial briefings and meetings in New York, the consultancy carried out the project from London, posting completed work on a secure website.

A black and white logo has been developed, with additional colours used as a key for different types of music.
