Costa starts sandwich bar

Mother and Arthur Collin Architect have been appointed to develop branding and interiors respectively for a new Italian-style sandwich bar concept being launched by Costa later this year.

In a significant move away from its traditional coffee base, Costa will be continuing the group’s Italian positioning into the take-away format, which will be trialed in the City of London. There are plans for subsequent national and possibly international rollout.

Costa marketing director Laurie Morgan says: “The pilot site will be in the City, but the concept has the legs to go global.”
