Support local talent

As a typical northern designer I am frustrated by the allocation of branding design by some of the larger organisations in the north of England. Why do local marketers seek the services of the big consultancies in the southern region? Is this a developing trend? I am sure Bradford & Bingley could have produced a similar solution from a design consultancy in say Leeds or Manchester. My feelings are not uncommon – this is a popular subject of debate in the Northern Design Circle. I’m not envious or critical of the work – I like it, but I would say it brought no real surprises.

On a final point, I would like to know how the majority of building society members feel about development work being done out of the region? If local members are expected to support their society, why does this company not support its local creative talent?
