Renowned graphic designer and film-maker Saul Bass has been awarded the Chartered Society of Designers’ 1995 Medal.

The medal, awarded by the CSD for a lifetime achievement in design, was accepted for Bass by CSD president-elect Nick Jenkins at the society’s Minerva Dinner last week. “Not only was Saul Bass first in terms of film credit design, he was, and still is, the best. He started with the The Man With the Golden Arm and has never looked back since,” said Jenkins in his citation.

– Winners of the CSD’s Minerva Awards are Met Studio in the environmental and interiors category for its Environment Theatre at the National Museum of Natural Science in Taiwan; Lewis Moberly in the graphics category for Bahlsen Family Biscuit packaging; and Dyson Appliances in the product category for the Dyson Dual Cyclone DC02.
