Royle toasts new future with Marmalade

Astound associate director Steve Royle has left the company to set up his own consultancy, Marmalade Design Studios.

Launching this week with Royle (pictured) and two other designers, the new consultancy will focus on interiors and graphics. It already has retail and leisure clients on board.

‘I got to the point where I thought there is another way of doing things. The idea is we are trying to get back to basics,’ says Royle.

At Astound, Royle was associate director for more than two years, having joined the consultancy five years ago.

He will not be directly replaced at Astound, and his responsibilities will be overseen by creative directors Paul Bretherton and Rupert Matthews.

Marmalade Design Studios is currently based in New Malden in Surrey, but will later move to Clapham Junction in London.
