Amazing investment

Amaze, a multimedia group set up by Liverpool’s John Moores University, is set to increase its 15-strong design team after a 2m cash injection last week.

The group will continue to employ between five and ten designers on a freelance and part-time basis, following its funding by investment company ECI Ventures.

‘We expanded our turnover by 300 per cent last year and hope to double it this year. We will be recruiting new designers in November and December, although it is too early to say exactly how many,’ says Amaze operation director Ian McAvley.

Amaze was set up last year to carry out multimedia assignments for JMU’s Learning Method Unit and has just completed work on a website for MTV, to be launched shortly. JMU will retain a minority stake in the company.
