Fitch screens CineUK format

Fitch has been appointed by CineUK to develop a prototype design for the UK’s first “local community” multiplex cinema in Milton Keynes.

Work on the 16-screen flagship cinema will start in May 2000 and should be completed by October 2002. Fitch will also revise the multiplex brand’s identity.

The designs will aim to differentiate CineUK from cinema chains such as Virgin and UCI cinemas situated in larger cities, says a Fitch spokeswoman.

Over the next 15 months CineUK plans to open a further 14 sites in locations such as Weymouth, Huntingdon, St Helier (Jersey), Burton-Upon-Trent and the Isle of Wight. Future multiplexes will be designed by Fitch.

CineUK has already opened in 14 sites around the country.
