Black History Month will begin in October in the London boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich, with branding by design consultancy DogStar.
Following a three-way pitch, DogStar triumphed to carry out the branding and promotion of the event through the design of its website and programme.
Black History Month is held every October in the UK. It aims to promote knowledge of black history, spread information on positive black contributions to British society and heighten the confidence and awareness of black people and their cultural heritage.
‘We were briefed with looking at the whole values of the event,’ says DogStar client services director Joanna Papadopoulos. ‘We have to look at the past, present and future. The whole concept is to make sure people know that there is so much going on, there are so many different genres, music, theatre and film. And everybody can get involved. We want to make it feel inclusive, not just for a certain sector.’
