Lewis Granaiola styles Skandium

Scandinavian lifestyle retailer Skandium is to open a new flagship store this month in London’s Knightsbridge, with interior design by Lewis Granaiola.

The concept for the new store aims to differ slightly from the retailer’s Marylebone High Street offer, to feature ‘international Modernism, yet selecting great contemporary design’. Emma Lewis and Pietro Granaiola of Lewis Granaiola designed both stores.

‘The store is quite Minimalist,’ says Granaiola. ‘We have used lime-wash oak units along with lighting from the designers featured, such as Louis Poulsen. It is really designed around the products so it is relatively simple.’

A wide selection of furniture from Knoll, Vitra and Cassina will be stocked in the store. Existing Skandium brands such as Artek, Woodnotes and Poulsen will also be available in-store.

Over the staircase will be a mouth-blown glass Artichoke by Poul Henningsen, while a stuffed reindeer’s head will appear on one wall.
