Wildfire revamps Student123

Veteran on-line community Student123.com is being relaunched this week with revamped technology and editorial content designed to compete with other popular networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.

Bristol-based media company Wildfire Communications is behind the revamp, which, it says, was designed to bring the site into the 21st century.

‘Student123 had been going for almost nine years and other technologies had overtaken it,’ explains Wildfire managing director Ashley Howden. ‘Today the new site has been reborn using the latest Web 2.0 social networking framework, so now users can upload their own profiles and content, and interact with each other.’

Aside from its social functions, Student123 also has a range of regularly updated articles, music, quizzes, comedy features and graduate jobs.

‘Sites like Facebook are sensational,’ says Howden, ‘but there is very little editorial focus, whereas Student123 is an established, niche brand that people can actually buy into.’

Wildfire also runs specialist on-line communities for Adoption UK, Ocean Estate Agents and BBC Comedy Soup.
