Graphic and branding designers Peter Saville, Michael Peters, Jay Smith and Howard Milton have been named on the shortlist for the 2009 Prince Philip Designers Prize.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the prize, which is run by the Design Council. Its aim is to focus on the contributions of designers to design among businesses and the general public.
Completing the shortlist are architects David Adjaye and Eric Parry, fashion designers Jeff Banks and Hussein Chalayan, sustainable housing specialist Wayne Hemingway, and Brompton bicycle designer Andrew Ritchie.
To mark the anniversary, a reception will be held at Buckingham Palace after the presentation ceremony on 15 October. The judging panel is chaired by Prince Philip.
Last year’s winner was services engineer Max Fordham.
