Busaba Eathai to open Old Street branch

Restaurant Busaba Eathai is set to open a new branch on London’s Old Street on 19 August, with interior design by Christian Liaigre and graphics work by North Design.

A spokeswoman for Busaba Eathai says the new branch will continue the roll-out of Christian Liaigre and North Design’s work, which can be seen in branches including Panton Street and Wardour Street.

The interior at Old Street will use materials including bronze, rattan and hardwood. Sculpted benches will be arranged around large, square tables, while lighting will come through watercolour-painted lampshades.

While works were being carried out inside the new branch, the hoarding space was given over to local graphic designers, photographers and illustrators to exhibit their work.

Works by photographer Jason Lowe, illustration agency Higginson Hurst, street art magazine VNA Magazine and curated project Big Antidote were all displayed.

Higginson Hurst filmed each stage of the hoarding installation to create a short film that will be screened at the branch’s opening night.
