Snap to it

Dinky Bristol art space Snap Gallery will be hosting an exhibition by illustrator Jonny Hannah from 7 September.

Duke of Ellington by Jonny Hannah

Southampton-based Hannah, who runs the wonderfully named Cakes & Ale Press, creates prints, posters and zines, often using a jigsaw to create wooden printing blocks. As well as creating work for the likes of The Sunday Telegraph, New York Times and The St Kilda Courier, Hannah also teaches on the illustration course at Southampton Solent University.

Now in its fourth year, Snap is a studio and gallery run by a co-operative of resident artists. Four times a year members of snap invite artists with a element of print to their work to exhibit alongside its members.

A passionate music lover and, according to his agency Heart, a sharp dresser who always matches shoes and bow-ties, Hannah is often inspired by his favourite tunes – primarily of the Jazz variety. Here’s a look at some of the works that will be on display.
