Allies Design Studio creates Great British Bake Off recipe book

Briefed to make the book ‘closer to Bake Off than ever before,’ the consultancy sought to use the set of the show and its surrounding fields and meadows to improve authenticity.

Directed by Allies Design Studio, photographer Kristin Peres shot at the Welford Park, Berkshire location – which is new for this series – during the filming of the show.

The show opens with panoramic shots of flora and fauna so Allies Design Studio looked to reflect this by designing chapter openers that each feature a different wildflower.

Recipe pages have been designed so that they are both ‘easy to follow and aesthetically pleasing’ while navigation icons indicate the different types of recipes such as Signature, Technical Challenge and Show Stopper. Readers can also see how hard each bake will be on a difficulty rating.

Step-by-step photography helps the readers feel like they are ‘in the marquee with the bakers’ says Allies Design Studio.  

There are profile sections on the stars of this year’s show, where bakers answer questions about their technique and style, their favourite utensils and how they got in baking.
