Brands plan major Green projects

More than a fifth of companies are planning a major environmental initiative in 2010, according to a new survey.

The research, by trade fair organiser Easy Fairs, shows that 22 per cent of brand managers say their companies are planning a major Green initiative.

In addition, 40 per cent say they plan to implement a product innovation designed to improve environmental performance over the next 12 months, and just 2 per cent say Green packaging has become less important with the recession.

The survey also shows that 39 per cent of brand managers say they are more committed to the environment than they were a year ago – a threefold increase on 2009.

Matt Benyon, managing director of Easy Fairs UK, says, ‘A year ago, brand managers told us they were reluctant to bow to commercial pressure and put environmental plans on to the backburner. Well, one year on, that commitment hasn’t receded.’
