Path Design’s Natural History Museum restaurant opens

The Natural History Museum’s new restaurant has opened, completing a comprehensive remodelling of the museum’s catering and retail spaces by Path Design.

The Natural History Museum obtained listed building consent to break through the original building fabric to an adjacent gallery in order to create a much larger restaurant than its predecessor.

The 270-cover, 650m2 restaurant features kitchens that have been opened up and brought to the front of house.

Path Design has also worked on the North Hall Café, which opened in June, and the Earth Shop and Deli Café, which opened in July.

The programme of work has been carried out with historic buildings architect RWCA and project-managed by Cultural Innovations.

Zoe Watts, head of events and catering at the NHM, says, ‘We believe our new restaurant is now at the cutting edge of international museum restaurant design, offers high-quality cuisine and will add to our visitors’ experience of the NHM.’
