Design Indaba brings design community to South Africa

South Africa’s Design Indaba conference kicks off tomorrow at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

The conference, which runs until 27 February, will be followed by the Design Indaba Expo, which runs from 27 February to 1 March.

Speakers at the conference include Ferran Adrià, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders and Design Week editor Lynda Relph-Knight.

Design Indaba Expo, which will showcase South African design across a range of disciplines, will also feature the South exhibition and awards.

The South initiative aims to reward designs that are ‘an inversion of hand-me-down Eurocentric creativity’.

Design Indaba was founded in 1995 by Ravi Naidoo, managing director of Cape Town-based marketing and media company Interactive Africa.
