Marksmith revamps Index logo

Marksmith Design has revamped the branding and website for venture capitalist Index Ventures, following an open design brief it was awarded last year.



Mark Smith, creative director of the consultancy, says the aim of the redesign is to create an immediately striking site for the London and Geneva-based financier.



‘The websites in this industry tend to look pretty similar and show the partners trying to look cool,’ Smith says. ‘We tried to bring a point of difference by creating something a little disruptive and unusual that would stand out to entrepreneurs seeking a new venture capitalist firm to work with.’



Smith adds that the project began with an overhaul of the website, but it led to a redesign of the old logo. ‘We re-did the logo and all associated corporate applications. The end result was something more harmonious to the new Web design.’



Illustrator Adam Simpson created the distinct image on the home page of www.indexventures.com, which will now be updated every year.



Marksmith Design has also worked with Skype founder Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis, and with clients as diverse as Volkswagen Group and benefit management company Gissings.
