999 opens Latvia office

999 Design has launched a new office in Latvia, to cater for Baltic companies seeking to develop products and services for the UK market.

The office will be headed by Rolands Blezurs, who formerly headed international trade and development company RB Studio, and has taken on the job title of Baltic business development director.

The new office, which opened last week, will work with companies, from a range of fields such as food, drink, fashion and jewellery, to build their brands and make their products fit with the expectations of UK consumers.

999 director Richard Bissland says, ‘[Latvia’s] not the backwater that everyone thinks it is. It’s a very innovative and forward-thinking region.’

He adds, ‘We are also developing some contacts with local government and hope to bring our expertise in destination and B2B marketing to bear in the longer term.’

For the first six months the office will be responsible for sourcing new business and creating relationships with clients, with the majority of design work being created in the UK. It is hoped that after this period creative work will be completed in Riga itself, says Bissland.

999 Design also has offices in Glasgow, London and Manchester.
