Digital group wanted for clothing brand

Shop Direct is launching a competition to find a ‘small’ digital group to help it launch a new clothing brand, for which it is offering a £1000 development grant and a commercial contract.

The competition, called Branding Talent 09, is being organised by digital forum B.tween and was developed with the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts.

Shop Direct is seeking small creative digital groups or freelancers to help it with the online launch of a new fashion brand for young women.

The top five entries will each win £1000 to develop their initial idea. They will then have one month to do this before presenting it to a judging panel made up of representatives from Shop Direct, Nesta and the competition’s other partners, Aegis and Just-b Productions.

Shop Direct will appoint the winning entrant or entrants.

‘The brief is quite broad, so could embrace anything from creating a specific widget to a full launch project,’ says Just-b marketing manager Chris Howett. ‘This means Shop Direct could appoint up to two or three groups depending on the pitches.’

Howett reports that last year’s winners, new media group Quba, won a £5000 commission and hopes to secure a more substantial deal in the future.

Entrants are asked to submit a 150-word idea, along with a ‘representative image’ and a full biography by 15 July.
