Colophon publishing festival kicks off

Creativity and design in independent publishing will be celebrated this weekend, with the opening of Colophon in Luxembourg today.

The second biennial publishing symposium – curated by John Brown Publishing executive creative director Jeremy Leslie, writer and author Andrew Lowosky and media publisher Mike Koedinger – will feature talks, workshops, movies and networking events, with more than 110 independent magazines from around the globe exhibiting.

According to Leslie, independent magazines are creatively worthy, being defined by experimentation and innovation. This allows the magazine form to develop ‘in a way the mainstream is unable to risk’, he says.

Colophon, aimed at magazine creatives, designers, advertisers and readers, takes place from 13-15 March.
