Benjamin Tomlinson joins Poke as creative director

Poke has appointed Benjamin Tomlinson as creative director. Tomlinson joins from Ico Design, where he held the position of creative director.

Previously, he worked at Enterprise IG, Sampson Tyrell and SAS Design, where he was interactive creative director for nine years until 2005.

Among his projects for SAS was estate agent Foxtons’ website. More recently, Tomlinson installed an Internet-enabled letter-writing robot at the Houses of Parliament, worked on an interactive meeting table for Wieden & Kennedy and developed a series of tools that allow children to make stories online for book publisher Penguin.

Starting on April 6, Tomlinson will report directly to Poke founder Nicolas Roope, who says Tomlinson’s ‘undoubted ability at fusing technology with creativity will be a major asset to us’.

Tomlinson is also on the board of the International Society of Typographic Designers.

Poke co-founders Simon Waterfall and Iain Tait have both recently left the consultancy – in September 2009 and February 2010 respectively.
