Project for a rainy day

Everyone loves receiving post. Unfortunately, the dull thud of letters landing on the door mat is often followed by a disheartening sigh as yet more bills arrive through the letterbox.

Freelance designer Seb Pietrovito (aka Postman Sebaldo) has taken up the challenge to make people love receiving post with a project called I-love-post. People sign up with their preferred postman/woman alter-ego and add their address to a list. All members then receive the list of names and addresses and start sending inspirational post to complete strangers.

You could receive embossed Smarties lids, cake recipes, dried-out butterflies or directions to a ’shoe tree’ in Newcastle. ‘The idea came to me as I want to divert people away from communicating online and use post to get their creative juices flowing, the aim is to inspire and challenge others,’ Sebaldo explains.
