Cornwall Design Forum looks to expand

Cornwall Design Forum relaunched last night with a fresh resolve to expand its membership to include architects and interior designers.

Around 90 people attended the relaunch event at The Falmouth Townhouse, including Jonathan Ellery, the Cornish-bred founder of London-based group Browns Design.

‘The forum has been going for five years, aiming to bring designers of all sub-sectors together for the benefit of networking and finding out what is happening in the wider design world,’ says Jane Sutherland, project director of Creative Skills, which adminstrates the forum.

However, she adds, ‘The forum has always been largely composed of graphic designers, of whom there are many in Cornwall. We are looking to represent a broader cross-section of the design community here.’

The forum’s paying members will now receive regular newsletters and email alerts as well as a formalised quarterly programme of events, including talks with Land Design Studio creative director Peter Higgins and Quentin Newark over the next few weeks.

Cornwall is preparing to host the Design of the Times festival next summer.
