Studio Ilse revamps Kettners restaurant

Design consultancy Studio Ilse has released preview images of the new-look Kettners restaurant in London’s Soho, W1, which is set to reopen in November.

Studio Ilse has been charged with creating a revamped identity, and breathing new life into the menu and internal design of the famous restaurant.

The consultancy is redesigning three out of Kettners’ five floors, which contain meeting rooms and private spaces as well as the restaurant.

Jess Tully, head of communications at Studio Ilse, says, ‘The idea is to play on the creative life within the building and give it a new identity by building up its past. We wanted to create the restaurant’s future story.

‘We also want to make Kettners more of a female-friendly venue – somewhere where people can use the space flexibly, by having breakfast, holding a business meeting, or just hanging out with friends.’

A series of new spaces, such as The Pudding Bar, Tête à Tête, Champagne Bar, Salon and Brasserie, have been created to perform individual roles.

The Pudding Bar will feature an expanse of marble with vintage glass decanters, extravagant cake stands and sugary colours.
