Turquoise rebrands Saudi TV channel

Turquoise has rebranded Saudi Television station STV’s 24-hour news channel STV Al-Ekhbariya, using time as a metaphor in its identity, newsroom and news desk.

Appointed in July, the group was invited to pitch for the project, which also saw it address channel idents, title sequences and in-programme graphics.

‘We needed to create a refresh to show it does breaking news,’ says Gareth Mapp, creative director at Turquoise. ‘Our proposition was about time and being up to the minute. It’s all based on a futuristic clock showing segmented time.’

The group worked in close consultation with ITV on graphics and screen presentations. ITV worked on editorial direction.

The new identity will launch this weekend and is the latest of several projects Turquoise has worked on with the station. It has already rebranded the STV network and has just completed the identity of kids’ TV channel STV Generations.
