Christopher Jenner appointed Eurostar creative director

Interior designer Christopher Jenner has been appointed to the newly created position of Eurostar creative director. The appointment comes as the rail service is investing £700m in a new fleet.

The £700m investment will see newly refurbished trains delivered in 2014 and new trains in 2015, with interiors for both designed by Pininfarina.

A Eurostar spokesman says Jenner ‘is up to speed’ on all the fleet upgrades, which are already at the advanced stages of development.

‘His work will be complementary and might feature in service design and customer experience but not the fabrics and interiors at this stage,’ says the spokesman.

Jenner is being engaged to look beyond the fleet upgrade and will focus on customer experience. He has been charged with bringing what he calls ‘a fresh view and a design-led perspective’ to new and existing projects across Eurostar’s businesses.

Eurostar has a history of engaging designers and Jenner says his appointment is the ‘latest chapter’ in the rail service’s development.

Jenner, who has worked with the likes of perfumers Diptyque and Penhaligon’s, is known for creating bespoke opulent looks for his clients and often works with traditional craftsmen.

Jenner says, ‘All aspects of the Eurostar physical environment work together to bring our brand to life and our travellers demand and deserve the very best.

‘We have some exciting projects in the pipeline, which will continue this tradition of innovation and excellence.’
