Creative Spark revives its Little Shop of Horrors
Creative Spark has resuscitated its Little Print Shop of Horrors, which is being brought back to life for Halloween.
The shop has opened once a year since 2011 to sell horror-themed limited edition prints and raise money for selected charities.
This year’s devilish “666” theme sees Creative Spark designers take on six Disney films, six Hitchcock films and six best sellers from previous years, dabbling in the dark arts to create their own film poster prints.
Disney’s Pinocchio has gone bad in Pulling Strings, apparently crushing poor Jiminy Cricket to death, while in Mickey vs Woody, Toy Story hero Woody has been decapitated.
Meanwhile Hitchcock’s Rear Window – in which a recuperating photographer bears witness to a murder from his apartment window – sums up all of the film’s main themes and tensions in this lovely print.
We’re also fond of this Bates Motel print prophesying the murderous deeds that play out in Hitchcock’s Psycho.
At the beginning of the project the studio is split into teams which work on a set of designs, and in the spirit of competition, a winning team will be named as that which is deemed to have raised the most money for Forever Manchester, a Mancunian charity that supports local community projects.
Each design has been printed in a run of 50 and prices start at £14, with best sellers going for between £20-£25. Head here www.shop.creativespark.co.uk for more info.
