The Design Business Association has announced the shortlist for this year’s Inclusive Design Challenge.

Six design groups made it on to the shortlist, namely Adare, JudgeGill, London Associates, N1 Creative, Pearson Matthews and Wood & Wood Design.

All those shortlisted responded to the second brief, set by sponsors Sanctuary Care and the London Centre for Dementia Care.

The brief, titled ‘thanks for the memory’, challenged respondents to address the problems caused by short-term memory loss associated with dementia. Solutions could take the form of communication devices or systems, awareness campaigns, products, wearables, the redesign of the care or domestic environment, or new forms of service delivery.

The six design teams begin a programme of workshops with potential users of their products or services on 1 October. They must complete their projects by 14 January 2008, with the winner decided the following week.
