An alphabet of typefaces
SEA has created a range of 26 notebooks, each featuring one letter – from A-Z – set in a different typeface from the Monotype library.
The notebooks have been created to mark the one-year anniversary of online shop FAO, with Monotype commissioned to create a bespoke product.
SEA delved into the Monotype library to select the typefaces, which are presented in a range of upper and lower cases.
They range from the familiar (a Clarendon ‘h’, a Johnston Bold ‘Y’) to the lesser-known.
We’re particular fans of the ‘S’ in Braggadocio, which was created in 1930 by W.A. Woolley, and the use of Gill Sans Ultra Bold on the ‘i’, with its charming off-centre dot.
The notebooks are available for sale at www.fao-shop.com or at the pop-up shop as part of designjunction (18—22 September). A set is also available through a competition at www.fao-shop.com/faocompetition.
