Jack White’s “scratch-off” concert poster
The concert poster for Jack White’s recent performance in Las Vegas rather appropriately allows people to gamble.
The Three-Armed Bandit poster features a scratch-off element that gives people the chance to win prizes including limited-edition records and gift-cards.
The poster has been designed by DigitasLBi Chicago designers Matthew Jacobson – formerly head of design at White’s label Third Man Records – and Shelby Rodeffer.
A total of 270 silkscreened posters have been produced and each one has been individually hand-stamped with a unique combination of symbols, which are hidden beneath an opaque layer of scratch-off ink.
The poster comes with a specially designed Jack White/Las Vegas 2015 coin that can be used to scratch the ink off.
The symbols each relate to a Jack White song. In reference to the song “Three Women”, if you reveal a redhead, blonde and brunette you win three limited edition records.
Those who reveal images of Nietzche, Freud and Horace – referenced in the lyrics of Bat Black Licorice, win live comedy LPs, while those who reveal three matching men from the Third Man Records logo win a $300 gift card.
A limited number of the posters will be made available on magicpaper.bigcartel.com.
