Adidas has opened its Adicentre, a non-retail showroom based near Manchester, designed by London consultancy Project-X. The centre delivers a 'brand statement environment' to highlight the company's philosophy and product lines.

Alton College student named Audi Young Designer

Jack Spencer has won the Audi Young Designer of the Year award for his kite landboard design, with a previously unheard of steering system. Spencer is a student at Alton College.

Kitching starts the press on new service

Typography specialist Alan Kitching and his partner Celia Stothard are launching an 'old-fashioned' printing press and design service from Kitching's Typographic Workshop in London. It is the first time that Kitching will accept commissions from private individuals, in addition to companies. 'I'm turning the clock back to the 1950s; it is a marriage of design and old-fashioned printing,' he says.

Rescue Buoy wins Braun Prize for young designer

Serif confusion revealed by eagle-eyed trainspotter

In your article you state that 'a specially-commissioned sans serif typeface, Guardian Egyptian has been developed' (DW 8 September). Hopefully the designers, Paul Barnes and Christian Schwartz, won't be too upset at you for implying that they decided to design an Egyptian typeface, then somehow forgot to include any serifs.
