BDG McColl caters for Dome food design

BDG McColl is heading up the design of the non-branded catering facilities at the Millennium Dome site.

The consultancy’s design work has helped Granada Food Services win a one-year contract to run an estimated 16 public restaurants, food courts and generic catering outlets and bars at the Dome, worth 15m a year to GFS.

Plans include a seafood and wine bar, a global food court, an organic restaurant, a Best of British restaurant, a real ale bar and staff catering facilities. However, a GFS spokeswoman says the work is still in its conceptual stages.

BDG McColl Retail and Leisure managing director Sue Wheldon says: “We are delighted to be working with the New Millennium Experience Company and Granada in creating a ‘celebration of eating and drinking’ in the millennium. Who wouldn’t be thrilled to be involved in such a history-making project?”

Costa Coffee, New Covent Garden Soup Company, Harry Ramsden, Simply Internet, Bakers Oven, Aroma, AMT, Loch Fyne, Cafe Veeraswamy and American Bagel Company are among the named chains on site in the Dome (DW 5 February).
