The group designed this campaign for the bank to promote a special offer on personal loans. It has been beset by sticky problems ever since it got off the ground.

First a reporter from the Sunday Times called it “the naffest campaign of the year” – although it was only January.

“I think it was sour grapes. You know, when someone really likes something it hurts them,” says Minale Tattersfield managing director Alex Maranzano. “We’ve had excellent feedback about the strength of this image,” he adds. Obviously his relationship with the client is rock solid.

The rock itself was handed out at branches as part of the promotion, but it didn’t Brighton (ouch) customers’ lives.

Sod’s law, two customers complained of biting on metal fragments and NatWest is now urging anyone who picked one up to get rid of it immediately.
