Autocue with a mind of its own gets the wrong Idea

The International Design Effectiveness Awards started with a bang on Monday night, but nearly didn’t get going at all.

Host Ian Rowland-Hill, chief executive of the Design Business Association, stepped up to welcome the throng of glittery designers and clients at London’s Hilton Hotel, but a few hitches marred his otherwise debonair performance.

The microphone developed a speech impediment and slurred his words almost to a standstill, or was that drinking too much white wine in the VIP room?

Jokes about DBA staff helping out in the kitchen covered his back, but the biggest laugh came when his autocue went backwards. But, Rowland-Hill kept talking forwards.

Was he think we least at.
