Synergy is employment Catalyst

This week the Department for Education and Employment launches a magazine for employers offering work experience and training for the unemployed.

Called Catalyst, the quarterly publication has been designed by Synergy Communications, which will develop an on-line version this year. It was appointed after credentials presentations by seven consultancies in the fourth quarter of 1999.

“Since the Government launched the New Deal initiative two years ago, it has moved on. What we want to do is create a forum for employers to examine some of the issues of taking on New Dealers,” says Catalyst editor Lesley Raymond.

“For the design, we wanted to get away from the typical look of a Government publication. It needed to be sufficiently attractive and interesting in content,” she says.

A Welsh language version of Catalyst will also be published, and the magazine will be available through Job Centres as well as employers within the scheme.
