EXHIBITIONS

Vanity Case by Starck shows work by the French designer Philippe Starck. Each piece of work is assembled around a unifying element – the vanity case. The objects (or models in the case of large items) are placed in the lower part of the cases, and a series of self-critical texts by the designer in the upper part. Until 10 January 1998.

Venue: Sala Rekalde, Alameda de Recalde, 30, Bilbao, Spain.

Part subversive, part playful and always artful, the American artist Lawrence Weiner has been working with words, statements, rumours and expressions for three decades. Weiner creates text-based works which take on the metaphorical colours of their surroundings. The piece Towards Motion, features six different text panels displayed on the escalators in Cabot Place East. Until 28 February 1998.

Venue: The Rotunda, Cabot Place East, Canary Wharf, London E14.
