Regal theatre identity by Marc White

Eastleigh design group Marc White Partnership has created an identity for the Theatre Royal Winchester, which is set to re-open in September following an overhaul.

The logo will feature on the front of the Grade II-listed theatre, as well as on literature, advertising and staff uniforms.

The marque features a deep red ribbon in the form of a free-flowing letter W on a white background in a bid to gain maximum visual impact.

The words Theatre Royal appear in La Giocanda typeface, combined with Winchester written in a contrasting Gil Sans face, both in dark blue.

Bill Pye, account manager at Marc White Partnership, says that although the brief was straightforward, the consultancy wanted to give greater prominence to the word Winchester in the identity.
