Come Christmas, port drinkers will be faced with a new-look Martinez Gassiot & Co range, created by Nucleus Design.

The Portuguese-based client approached Nucleus to create a new brand identity and packaging for its portfolio of 11 ports.

The brief pinpointed heritage and quality as the brand’s key qualities, says Nucleus managing director Peter Matthews.

“The logo is more curved than before and has a crown to reinforce the idea of heritage. It appears on all the products. Each port has its own distinct labelling, with its own colours and typography, but each is clearly part of the same family,” Matthews adds.

Nucleus also changed the name of the Vintage Reserve port, renaming it Master’s Reserve.

Martinez has yet to decide if other parts of the brand will be redesigned.
