The Science Museum has appointed Chris Wilkinson Architects to two projects for the Wellcome Wing.

The practice will handle the overall master plan and fitting out of the new 10 000m2 wing and develop its ground floor.

It will also design and fit out Making the Modern World, a classical gallery which will provide a gateway to the Wellcome Wing. CWA was up against four others including Alsop & Strmer and Ron Arad Associates for this project (DW 18 July). ‘The museum is still selecting designers for the other floors,’ says Science Museum head of design Tim Molloy.
