Ferguson Orr works in-store

Leading Edinburgh department store Jenners has appointed Glasgow consultancy Ferguson Orr to redesign its china and glass department and entrances.

The consultancy has already designed interiors for the store’s Grand Hall, men’s department and first-floor women’s department. It has worked for Jenners since 1994, when it won a credentials pitch to become its “primary design agency”, according to Jenners deputy managing director Robbie Douglas Miller.

The 2440m2 china and glass section includes 13 concessions. “We’re refurbishing the whole department, from floor and gondolas through to ceilings and lighting,” comments consultancy account executive Gillian Plant, adding that Jenners intends the redesigned department to “provide a very high quality ambience” for customers.

The new-look department will be unveiled in April 1997. Ferguson Orr’s sister firm, Seriously Visual, will be designing graphics for the entrances, which will go on-site the following year.
