ROYAL College of Art final year student Marc Shillum doesn’t need laughing gas to inject wit into his work.

Shillum’s graphic story based on the International Herald Tribune won this year’s Nick Wurr Memorial Bursary, set up by The Partners in memory of a founding partner who died two years ago.

The Partners aren’t looking for slipping-on-banana-skin-type gags though. Shillum won because his work “demonstrated wit with intellect”, according to Partners partner James Beveridge. Last year’s award was won by to Melissa Price (DW 23 June 1995).
