CONTEMPORARY MENSWEAR DEPARTMENT

BY FOUR IV FOR HARVEY NICHOLS

Fashionable boys can now shop in style at the new contemporary menswear department at Harvey Nichols in London’s Knightsbridge.

The brand new 400m2 department has been ‘sculpted’ from the store’s sub-basement.

Four IV and project manager and contractor Reflex Associates have installed a new staircase which draws customers down to the trading floor through stainless steel mesh screens and textured plaster.

The consultancy has designed an identity of three dot-matrix faces – used on the floor and in glass. The materials palette continues with satin stainless steel and stone.

Shopping inspiration will be added by catwalk shows played over video monitors, while six- metre-high mirrors and a platform should keep the narcissists happy.

And the all-important act of buying is treated generously with circular cash desks and an area devoted to wrapping. The department is due to open this week.
