Movie World theme park seeks cast

Warner Bros and UK entertainment group MAI are to start the hunt for UK architects and graphic designers to work on Movie World, a 225m theme park project announced this week.

The companies are investing jointly in a 61ha site in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Planning permission is pending.

Movie World is expected to create up to 200m annual consumer spending and generate 3500 new jobs. It will include a film studio, multiplex cinemas, rides and restaurants.

“Four in-house designers have created the schematic plans, and we will soon be looking for architects and a logo designer,” says Nicholas Winslow, president of Warner Bros Recreation Enterprises Division.

He confirms that Warner and MAI will restrict the search to the UK. Winslow says: “There are huge capabilities here – why look outside?”

Movie World’s overall theme will be British and American films, cartoons and TV programmes and their characters and stars. Movie World is expected to open in 1999.
