Elmwood chairman Jonathan Sands OBE is to stand down after nearly 20 years in the role. Sands has appointed Steve Gatfield to take on the role of group chairman.


Dr Maria Balshaw is to replace Sir Nicholas Serota as director of the Tate. Balshaw, who is currently head of the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester will be the organisation’s first female director in its 120-year history. She will take up the position in June 2017.

Brand consultancy Jack Morton Worldwide has announced the appointment of Damian Ferrar as executive creative director. He will be based in the consultancy’s London office.


DesignStudio has announced three new hires to its San Francisco office. Justin Rands has been taken on as a design technologist, Gabrielle Matte will join as a designer and Caroline Tomlinson as project manager.

South Staffordshire-based consultancy 8848 has expanded its senior team, appointing Mike Lloyd as creative director, and Liz Collingridge as marketing manager.


Vicky Huddle has joined brand and packaging consultancy, Parker Williams, as senior account director. The consultancy is part of Sun Branding Solutions.

Online commercial print specialist Flyeralarm has appointed Keith Hanson to head up its UK business.

City & Country Graphics has launched a sister company, called Deckle Edge. Based in Oxfordshire, it is a graphics consultancy specialising in retail, events, exhibitions and motorsport.


Danish acoustic solutions manufacturer Kvadrat Soft Cells has announced the acquisition of the British acoustic manufacturer Fabric Systems.


UX consultancy Decibel has been acquired by marketing and advertising agency, Tangent.
